Leah Bermudez: From Milton Magic FC to Professional Soccer Success
For Leah Bermudez, soccer has been a journey of growth, resilience, and leadership. From her early days at Milton Magic FC to making history at Gannon University and signing her first professional contract in Australia, Leah’s path reflects the transformative power of hard work and the supportive community at Milton Magic FC.
Building the Foundations: Leah’s Early Days at Milton Magic FC
Leah’s soccer journey began in 2008 when she joined Milton Magic FC at just 7 years old. Playing as a Midfielder, she developed her skills and passion for the game under the guidance of dedicated coaches at Milton.
Her role as a team captain under Coach Orlin helped Leah develop leadership qualities early on. Our community has successfully developed Leah into the player she is today, on and off the field. The drive and perseverance she gained throughout her time here has translated into her college career and now into signing her first pro contract.
Milton Magic’s focus on player development laid a strong foundation for Leah, equipping her with the skills, mindset, and determination to succeed at higher levels.
Making History at Gannon University
Leah’s time at Gannon University was marked by historic achievements and personal growth. In her sophomore year, she took on the role of team captain, determined to transform the team’s culture into a winning one.
Under her leadership, Gannon Women’s Soccer reached new heights, including winning the Sweet 16 Regional Championship in the NCAA Tournament and becoming the 5th best Division II school in the nation. “Each season after my sophomore year was a stepping stone forward,” Leah reflected.
Her individual accolades, such as back-to-back All-Region Defensive Player awards, highlighted her skill and determination as a player. These achievements were a continuation of the leadership and perseverance she developed during her years with Milton Magic FC.
Reaching New Heights: A Professional Soccer Journey
After college, Leah transitioned to semi-professional soccer, playing for the Erie Commodores UWS and BVB Waterloo in League 1 Ontario. These experiences prepared her for the next step in her career: signing her first professional contract with Souths United in Brisbane, Australia.
One of Leah’s proudest moments was carrying the NCAA Regional trophy to her team after their historic win. For her, these milestones are not just about personal success but about celebrating the hard work and camaraderie of her teammates – a value she first learned at Milton Magic FC.

Advice for Aspiring Players: Confidence is Key
Leah’s journey has taught her the importance of confidence and mental resilience, lessons she wants to share with current Milton Magic FC players:
“Be a confident player. You can work on your physical training all you want, but if your mindset isn’t in the right place, you won’t find the success you are striving for. Believe you are a good player, each time you wake up, each time you touch the pitch, because when you have a bad game, or make a bad pass (which will happen), you will bounce back and fight the adversity.”
Leah emphasizes that mental health is just as important as physical health: “Mentally strong players win games.” These lessons reflect the holistic approach to player development she experienced at Milton Magic FC.
The Lasting Impact of Milton Magic FC
Leah credits Milton Magic FC not only with shaping her as a player but also with instilling values that have guided her off the field. “Milton Magic holds my roots as a soccer player, and I wouldn’t be who I am today without them,” she said.
She appreciates the club’s efforts to connect with alumni and inspire young players, noting, “The soccer world has grown so much, and there are so many more opportunities and resources for the youth. Milton Magic’s efforts to utilize these resources will only strengthen the drive and success of young players.”
Looking Ahead: A Legacy of Leadership and Perseverance
Leah’s journey from Milton Magic FC to professional soccer is a testament to the power of hard work, confidence, and a supportive community. Her story continues to inspire young players to believe in themselves, stay mentally strong, and strive for greatness.
By carrying the values she learned at Milton Magic FC into every step of her career, Leah Bermudez has shown what it means to lead with resilience and determination – on and off the field.
